Hackathon and Mapathon in Minsk 10 – 19 August 2019

CIVIC TECH EXCHANGE 2019

We invite Hacktivists, social innovators and Civic Tech experts to our amazing event in Belarus “Civic Tech Hackathon 2019”.

In Belarus and Germany, there are many actors working in the field of Civic Tech. So Falanster.by, Wechange.eco and the Map.vonmorgen.org teams decided to bring those actors from East and West together to learn from each other, to get to know other cultures and ways to look at a topic and of course jointly program together.

During this one week, we will jointly set up a Belarussian version of Map.vonmorgen.org and take care of the API to connect Kartevonmorgen with Wechange, Wikidata, Wikipedia and OpenStreetMap. The main goal here is to provide the first step to a non-monopolised internet infrastructure for Civil Society. The clear goal of the project is advanced training in the field of Civic-Tech. This means that we will provide seminars and workshops on how to work as civil society actors in the field of Civic Tech.

We pay all the expenses and travel costs so that you do not have to worry about anything. We offer to stay in a beautiful place in the countryside in Belarus. There are a river, sauna, billiards and others activities.

Selection process: Up to now – we will accept everybody who applies. If we have too many application we will start to select. But until then – “First come first serve”

Conditions: The working language is English. Accommodation and food are provided; travel costs and visa are covered by Wechange eG.

For this project, we get funded by the Federal Foreign office. With the project, they want to support exchange between Civil society actors from East and West. The focus here is on training and further training projects (capacity-building). Everyone, particularly young people, fundamentally needs to have prospects for their own economic, societal and social progress and to be able to see chances for themselves and their environment to develop and thrive. The motivation for all societal, political and social engagement for one’s own country stems from this. Training and further training are the foundations on which all people build their personal dreams and prospects for the future. Academic, professional and socio-political training and further training measures, including via the awarding of scholarships, are thus eligible for funding. The target group is primarily, but not exclusively, young people
